Are you a driven individual passionate about cloud/data migration, VMs and load-balancing servers? Do you want to gain hands-on experience working with cutting-edge tools in a dynamic and supportive environment?


Classlete (the fusion of "Class" and "Athlete") is an innovative online platform designed for Canadian and U.S. high school student-athletes who strive to balance academics, sports, and social life.


We partner with youth sporting organizations and schools to provide custom Sports Card/Poster designs (both digital and printed) equipped with QR codes. This program offers a revolutionary revenue-sharing, branding, and fundraising opportunity, helping organizations lift their visibility while showcasing their athletes.

Objective: 

This project aims to migrate our existing infrastructure from Microsoft Azure to OVH, ensuring a smooth transition while maintaining system integrity, security, and performance.


Goals:

Migration of Infrastructure from Azure to OVH


Position: System Admin Intern

Location: Remote

Duration: 1-2 Months (with potential for extension)

Start Date: March 2025


Scope of Work


1. Migration of Linux Server to OVH

  • Migrate the existing PHP Laravel infrastructure to OVH, ensuring minimal downtime.
  • Migrate the SQL database, ensuring all necessary port configurations are correctly implemented within the Laravel application.
  • Implement and configure security certificates using Certbot to ensure HTTPS encryption.
  • Review and modify DNS entries as needed to point to the new OVH infrastructure.


2. Migration of Windows Virtual Machine (VM) to OVH

  • Install and configure Adobe products required for the workflow.
  • Migrate the Windows Laravel application to the new OVH Windows instance.
  • Set up Windows VM replication to allow easy instantiation of multiple identical instances as needed.
  • Implement a load-balancing solution for Windows instances:
  • Ensure that when system thresholds are reached, a new instance is brought online automatically.
  • Configure load balancing to distribute traffic across available instances.
  • Review security policies and provide recommendations for improved security measures.


Intern Responsibilities


The selected intern will:

  • Assist in planning and executing the migration process.
  • Work with the existing infrastructure to ensure seamless deployment.
  • Document all changes, configurations, and troubleshooting steps.
  • Conduct system tests to validate successful migration.
  • Provide security recommendations for both Linux and Windows environments.


Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Basic understanding of Linux system administration (Ubuntu, CentOS, or Debian preferred).
  • Knowledge of PHP and Laravel deployment processes.
  • Familiarity with MySQL/MariaDB database migration and configuration.
  • Understanding of SSL/TLS security certificates and Certbot.
  • Experience or coursework in Windows Server administration.
  • Understanding of virtual machines and cloud environments (Azure, OVH, AWS, etc.).
  • Basic networking skills, including DNS management and load balancing.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
